KLIA Trip

Nov, 25th… Trip to KLIA for uniform measurement.
My batch mates and I gathered at Subang before we had our way to KLIA. Since some of my batch mates are still workings, so half of us going first for the measurement. I hitch a ride with 3 others batch mates. It took 45mins from Subang to KLIA using highway. It’s a very boring highway since there is nothing interesting to saw outside the car but we had a great jokes and story along the way and I don’t feel it’s a long journey…
When we arrived there, we parked our car on level 2, block B. Then we walked to block A which is beside block B. Look for the MTB shop where we need to measure our uniform and collect the accessories for the uniform. But block A don’t have any shop, just a parking block for MAS van. Suddenly I greet a guy walking there and ask him where is MTB shop for technical crew uniform and he told me the direction. Huh!! Actually the shop is located at block B… Just inside the area where there is a bridge to terminal building. So, we got a wrong info from Ms. Intan…hehehe
It’s just a small shop where there are 2 dummies wearing crew uniform inside the shop. Then we enter the shop and ask them to measure the uniform for us. We collect all the uniform indent given by Ms. Intan and gave it to the worker there. Then they called us one by one according to the name on the uniform indent. We need to go behind the counter to measure our uniform and try the peak cap. These 4 sets of uniform will be delivered after 3 months later, so we need to buy our own uniform by the mean time. During that day, we only received peak cap, epaulet, tie and belt.

After finished collecting the accessories, I followed my friends to Seri Kembangan to measure their uniform. We had our lunch at Seri Kembangan, just in front of the tailor shop. Suddenly it started to rain heavily. We stuck at the mamak restaurant about 1 hour. After that we went to the tailor and my friends took their measurement. Their uniform will be delivered after 2 weeks. As for me, I bought at Jimmy Fashion House in Pertama Complex.
After settled the measurement, then we went back to Shah Alam. All my friends went home, but I went to Maybank to ask for my account conformation letter since MAS need it to transfer monthly allowance…

Briefing day!!

Finally..i had time and internet access to post my experience during this 3 days…what a busy 3 days for me…
Starting with my briefing day at MAS Complex A on Nov, 24th. I woke up at 6.15am and took my bath. I’m very excited to go to MAS Complex A. It’s been 6 months now since my last time at Complex A for MISPA test. At 7am I drove to Shah Alam to my friend house and went to Complex A with him. Arrive there at 8.30am and meet new friends and we share our experience during all stages in cadet pilot process. After that Ms. Intan ask us to go to briefing room on the 1st floor.

Then we need to introduce ourself and to repeat back our friends name before us. I was the 12th person, so I need to remember 11 of my friends before. After that Ms. Intan introduce about MAS background gave us a contact form, then she explained how to fill it. At 11am, the session with Ms. Intan finished and we went to MHub Cafe.

We changed our contact number and discuss the date to go to KLIA for our uniform measurement. After that we went back to briefing room for the 2nd session. Before that we spend some time to visit simulator hall where we took some pictures.

Continue with the briefing with Capt. Tony Ho… He’s a very strict person but nice, always tell a story about his responsibility to sack cadets from flying school. But actually he always help cadets solve their problems. Before finish his session, he shared some of his experience during his service with MAS.
The briefing finished at 4 pm and again we took a picture of our batch in front of the main entrance into the simulator building.

A Story To Share

About 1 guy... Very interested to b a pilot...
2004, he apply for the first time under Malaysia Airlines (MAS) cadet after his SPM. Luckily he received a call from MAS to attend psychomotor test... Then he went for psychomotor test. When finished d test, MAS hr (Mr. Azman) told him to wait a few weeks b4 they call 4 d result...waiting bout 3 months, no call from MAS. He knows he failed d test... But with his SPM result he continues his study to matriculation...
a year in matriculation, then 2005 he apply again 4 MAS cadet.. This is 2nd time he applies. I think he’s very lucky coz MAS called him again after a year to attend psychomotor test... Mr. Azman still conducts the test. He went to MAS complex B for the test with hope he will pass this time. When finished d test, again Mr. Azman told him to wait 4 their call. Then he back to his college again. A few months later he receives a letter from MAS. He failed again for the 2nd time...
He set his mind to stop study after finished his matriculation to get a loan n apply for flying school. But his family not allow him to do that also one Capt. in MAS advice him to have a degree as a backup in case he need a long time to success in his MAS cadet selection. So he continues his study in a local University as a BSc. (Hons.) student since his matriculation result qualified him to further study.
2006...finished 1 semester in university, he applies again under MAS cadet. Hope this time it will be much better since he already know about psychometric for the 3rd time!! So he went for the test. That time they transferred the location to MAS Complex A. Mr. Azman again, now he already remember this guy. 3 times went for the test. haha.. This time he made it! Passed the 1st stage. Got the result immediately after d test. Maybe they improved after transferred to Complex A. Mr Azman announce who passed the test n give him a letter to attend 2nd test (MISPA). He received d letter with smiles n hope to get through d remaining test... This time quite easy for him to go to Subang since he live in Shah Alam compared to last time he went for the test from Penang.
The day has come. He went for MISPA. This is 1st time sitting the test. Never know what d questions will come. He never knows flydamnit... I think flydamnit still baby that time... hehe
So going through the test he realizes it was very hard, he missed a lot of questions. Went home frustrated as he knew he already failed...5 months later, no news from MAS... He not calls them for the result. Actually he never knows the HR number. He realizes he failed...but he desperate to sit 4 the test back. He re-applies again less than 1 year required. But this time MAS didn't call him...
There come 4th semester in university...2007...after going back from extra class he read star newspaper. There is a MAS post for cadet pilot intake. He quickly prepares what it needs n a day after he post d resume together with copies of cert to MAS... A few weeks later he received a call from MAS to attend psychometric for da 4th time!!!!!!!!
Went for the test but this time Miss Intan conduct. No more Mr. Azman... Miss Intan told me Mr. Azman already got promoted... hehe. This time he passed the test without any problem... Got a very good score for every part in d test...when finished Mr. Azman coming to give the result. Miss Intan just sit on a chair watching him read d successful candidates name. He not remember how many of them but he made it!! Mr. Azman already surprised because he went for the test for 4th straight year!! hahaha...MISPA will be in 2 weeks time. So he went home and starts preparing for the test. This is his chance to get into MAS cadet...
The day has come. He went for MISPA alone, driving to MAS complex A. There are some candidates already arrived. He greets them and tries to make friend. After a while Miss Intan came to him with a guy (Capt.).they greet them and ask them to go to a room where it was located on 1st floor. He was nervous but tries to calm down... Miss Intan passed the question book. Then the test starts. After finished all d test he feels his chances to pass the test was very high... Just like before the HR told the candidates to wait for their call. He went home with smiles and hope for success. Again, he didn’t receive any call from hr and he ask his sister who working with MAS as a stewardess. After a few days his sister told him that he failed the test... for the 4th time he failed the test but he knew he cannot live without being a pilot. So he planned to apply again during his final semester in university.
2008 comes… His house in Shah Alam now has an internet access for his group to find the articles for their final project. He also concentrates on his final project but his main target for this year is to pass the MAS selection process.
One day he surf MAS website and search under career site. He was very happy because MAS open their cadetship again. As usual, he quickly prepare for his application. He went to his faculty and met a lecturer to get verification on his certificates. After that he quickly posts the application letter to MAS using Pos Express... He know MAS will received his application a day after.2 weeks later he received a call from Miss Intan to attend the psychomotor on 15th April. But this time he was very lucky because he found flydmnit forum. So he read about the psychomotor test. Then he went to MAS complex A again with confident. Doing his best on he test and easily passed the test. After that Mr. Hafiz came out from the room with result. One by one successful candidate was called. And he was the last person to b called. He got d date for his mispa, 24th May. He knew he has a lot of time to prepare because his final exam will end on 7th May. Then before went home he talk with Mr. Hafiz ask him where is Mr. Azman because this time he didn’t come. So he told him that Mr. Azman get promoted again... hehe. He smiles because Mr. Azman already promoted twice in 5 years but he did not passed his selection yet…but the sad news is, this is the last time he can apply with MAS because he already apply many times before. Mr. Hafiz told him about that...
Now he was very busy with his final exam and final year project. Many things arose in his mind. After a month his final exam finished. Now he need to concentrate on his thesis an also MISPA. He registers as a flydamnit member so he can ask the seniors how to prepare for MISPA. Forget about completing his thesis, he prepares forMISPA every day. His progress on his thesis was very slow. But he managed to finish it.
He went to MAS complex A for the test... 3 hours in the room he completed his test and he asks the hr lady who conducted the test when he will get his result. She told him to wait for 2 months. Before he leave there is a guy waiting for his MISPA turn scheduled on 2pm,so he give all his notes (about MISPA) he printed before to the guy so he can study before his turn. Then he leave lobby and went home. He knows this time is much better than before. Much much better…
Now he already finished his degree and waiting for MAS result. In d same time he applies for a job with his degree result but in his mind he really dun want to work other than being a pilot. So he makes a backup plan where he applies for MARA to get loan for pilot course. Even his family not allows him to do that, he takes the risk. Went to MARA and flying school office alone. No one help him. He’s very desperate to be a pilot. One day he called MAS to get his result. He shocked and very sad because he failed for 5th times now!!! He really cannot believe it. According to HR lady, there are only 4 candidates passed their MISPA on that day. So he applies for another job and also working on his MARA loan hope he can make it. A few months later, he read a news paper about Singapore Airlines (SIA) open their cadetship program. So he apply via online and 2 days after that he receive an email to attend 1 stage interview with SIA at Nikko hotel on 7th Sept. At that time he was in Kuala Lumpur stay with his sister because his parents went to Makkah for umrah. He then prepared for his interview with SIA. Read a lot of info about SIA and also aircraft. He knows interview with SIA very hard but he try his best to pass it. He went for the interview. Everything was ok but he’s a little bit nervous during the interview. After that went home but not put any hope on his interview with SIA. After that he planned to go back to his hometown (Kelantan) on 9th Sept night with his sister. Arrived at Kelantan on 10th Sept... Since no one at home in Kelantan, the post box already full with letter...
He took the letter and check it one by one…from a lot of letter he received, there is a letter from MAS... He thinks, the letter must be the result of his MISPA last May... So he open the letter to read it…suddenly he jump and scream happily because it is not a letter for his MISPA result but it is stated MAS CADET PILOT INTERVEW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He cannot believe it... A few months ago he called Miss Intan and she said he’s already failed. But this is something miracle happens to him…the bad news is. The interview was on 11th Sept... He try to call MAS hr to postpone the interview but no one answered. There is no other way other than attend the interview. So, that night he buy Air Asia ticket and flew back to KL …arrive in at LCCT at 12midnight, he took Skybus to KL Sentral where his sister fetch him there. Arrive at his sister house at 1.30am…he dun have time to prepare for his interview... He need to sleep early since his interview was scheduled at 11.30am.so he sleep n woke up on 9am... He prepares to go to MAS complex B for d interview and bring his original certificates. He arrived there at 10.30am, sign the attendance and sit on a comfortable aircraft seat in front of the interview room. 2 years since his last time at MAS complex B, now he came back for cadet pilot interview.
He got 1 hour to read about MAS and also technical stuff. He just refresh what he already read for SIA interview before regarding on technical knowledge except for MAS history…then on 11.20am a guy came out from the interview room, already finished interviewed and went home. He still read the notes he bring..
About 11.30am Capt. Asri called his name and he enters the interview room. He was very nervous because he dun has much time to prepare for d interview. This like the battle to survive from a war…he knows he must to his best to pass the interview... Then he give his certificates to the panels and tell the panels he’s not well prepared for the interview since he just got d letter a day before. Then the panels told him to calm down and not panic. They just wanna ask him a little bit about aviation and his interest in aviation. Then he sits on a blue chair and was introduced to the panels. From his left Capt. Shamsurin, Mrs. Zawiah (HR lady) and Capt. Asri... So the interview started… finally he get comfortable with the situation and he start to be himself, tell the panels about his dream and his ambition to be a pilot. Last but not least he told them this is d 5th times he applied for this position and failed 4 times before. Never get the opportunity to attend the interview since he always failed until MISPA…all the panels shocked after he told that. So they continue with a simple question. Before the interview ended, the HR ladies ask him whether he active in sports or not… He said yes and he loves to play many things! Then the hr lady advice him to stop play for a month since they dun want him to injured during medical check up. Also get to know the 2 Capt. since he will be flying with them in the future and wait for 2 weeks before MAS called for the result…so he smiles and took his certificates before left the room…
3 weeks after the interview he called MAS for his result... Finally after 5 years try, try, try, try n try he passed his interview and the critical part of selection process. He needs to attend his medical on 14th Oct for pre-employment check up. A few weeks later after his medical, he receives a call from MAS. His medical was successful and he need to attend the briefing at MAS Complex A on 24th Nov…His send off confirmed on 15th Dec 2008 together with 15 other aspiring pilots...
15th December 2008 his dreams realize and it will be the best date he ever had in his life. on 15th Dec 08,at the age of 22 he got his 2nd birthday in a year…a new born MAS pilot ganna be...Insyaallah…
